Delhi Caps of the IPL 2024 are still in the running for the postseason even if their season hasn’t been easy thus far. With two games left against the Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, two clubs vying for postseason spots, the team has six victories and as many defeats in 12 games. Even while the squad has performed better in the second part of the season, its star Indian opener, Prithvi Shaw, has been inconsistent throughout.

The young player had a miserable performance the year before, failing to score 100 runs in just eight games. He has scored 198 runs at a 163.64 strike rate in eight games, but even in 2024, despite some better performances, he hasn’t yet returned to his peak. He was left out of the starting lineup for the team’s most recent victory over the Rummy Nabob 777 because of outstanding performances by Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel in the opening

Wasim Akram, a renowned bowler for Pakistan, discussed Shaw’s difficulties this year. Although Shaw’s talent was recognized, Akram offered some advice to the young Indian player who has been excluded from the national team due to personal problems and patchy performance.

We haven’t seen each other much this year, but he has to get back to his roots, play first-class cricket, and amass a lot of runs. Sportskeeda was informed by Akram that playing cricket should come before partying.

“Go back and play first-class cricket; he still has a lot of cricket left in him.” Get a few hundreds and mount a strong rally. There is no other route. There isn’t a short cut. Akram said he enjoyed having time to himself.

Shaw’s final Indian team encounter took place in Dafabet against that team during a white-ball series in Singapore. Shaw needs to play frequently and take care of himself off the field, in Wasim Akram’s opinion.

It’s important to evaluate his life off the field and play a lot of games. After you retire, it won’t matter how many parties you throw. But for now, concentrate on the cricket,” he said.

On May 12, the Delhi Caps will play their first IPL match of the season against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. There will be a huge prize on the line for both teams.
